August saw us launch All Paws on Deck, our new volunteer community designed to make volunteering with PAW Society more flexible and accessible.

Rescue needs all sorts of helping hands, and you don't need to foster or commit to regular hours to make a difference. From vet lifts and medication collections to event support, photography, lending equipment, or offering a particular skill, All Paws on Deck gives our supporters the opportunity to step in when they can.

We welcomed a massive 19 new cats into our care - Cosmo from a local vet practice and 18 cats and kittens from Cats Galore in Essex.

We also waved off eight pets to their new homes, each one making space for another innocent animal who needs our help.

The adoptions of Olly and Kenny gave us two enormous reasons to celebrate this month, but their stories also highlighted something we're increasingly concerned about.

Our active dog foster network is now very small, severely limiting the number and type of dogs we're able to help.

Olly needed more than two years to become ready for his forever home. Kenny needed a foster environment capable of understanding and managing his complex needs. Neither journey was simple, but foster care gave both dogs the time, stability, and individual support they needed to reach their happy ending.

We want to be able to offer that chance to the next dog who needs us, but we can only say yes when we have somewhere for them to go.

Thanks to a hugely generous donation from an organisation that’s supported us for a year, we were able to recoup some of the losses made in July.
