Seasons Greetings!

As 2023 draws to an end we’re looking back on a brilliant year. We had some tough times but with the help of our supporters we’ve (almost) made it through!

At the time of writing, 70 of our animals are looking forward to spending their first Christmas in a loving home of their own. A further 42 are still under our care, safe and warm, hoping 2024 is the year they find their families.

Some of the lucky ones include:

Lily was surrendered when her family were unable to keep her. Being blind in one eye gave her a unique look and she attracted the attention of ITV News! Lily was adopted in July.

Loki and his brother Bear were surrendered when their owner’s relationship broke down. Due to developing Sibling Syndrome, the decision was taken to separate the boys so they could each thrive in their own right. Loki stole many hearts and found his new family in March.

Gremlin was one of four senior cats surrendered when their owner went into a hospice. Her new family were specifically looking for an older cat with bags of personality. At 13 years old and full of Tortie-tude, Gremlin fit the bill perfectly and she was adopted in March.

Bonnie traveled to the UK from Romania in 2021. Her troubled past resulted in reactivity and it took a while to find the right foster home to work with her. She’s blossomed into a beautiful adult dog and was officially adopted by her foster in October.

George came to us after his owner sadly passed away and quickly earned the nickname Granddad George, despite being sprightly for his age. His distinguished character and doddery ways melted many hearts, including his new adopter who welcomed him home in July.

The F-Word

Fundraising, of course!

Looking ahead to the new year, we’ll be placing lots of focus on our funding. To remain a responsible rescue, it’s vital we ensure that we have the funds available to help the animals we take in.

We understand that times are tough and asking for donations has never been more difficult. That’s why we’ll be creating fundraisers that give back where possible or cost our supporters very little.

Here are some low-cost ways you can get involved right now:

In November, we launched our weekly lottery in partnership with One Lottery. Each week, there’s a £25,000 jackpot up for grabs and until Saturday 23rd December, you can also enter the £3,000 Christmas Super Draw. You can play for just £1 per ticket here.

We recognise that the holiday season isn’t a happy time for everybody, especially those who have experienced bereavement. Earlier this week we created a memory tree to honour the people you’ll be missing this Christmas. Please help us decorate our tree, keep your loved ones’ lights shining and show others they’re not alone. You can donate a decoration at a cost of your choice here (minimum donation set at £2).
